Maintenance Guide
The following is a general maintenance guide for ALL Glass World products. Please refer to project specific products as noted above.
Mirrors
Proper cleaning of mirrors with a soft, clean, grit-free cloth and a mild, non-abrasive, non-alkaline cleaning solution. Certain types of hard water may leave harmful deposits if allowed to dry on mirror surfaces. We recommend cleaning your mirrors with our ammonia free Glass World cleaner.
Mirror Frames
Take care not to use cleaners on perimeter wood mirror frames. Decorative wood mirror frames should be treated with a gentle dusting or cleaning performed only when necessary (no hard rubbing). Do not allow water to stand or collect against the perimeter edges of the mirror frames.
Glass (including Shower Doors, Divider Panels and Back Painted Glass)
Proper cleaning of glass with a soft, clean, grit-free cloth and a mild, non-abrasive, non-alkaline cleaning solution. Certain types of hard water may leave harmful deposits if allowed to dry on glass surfaces. Rinse off wet glass surfaces immediately with clean rinse water, and remove water promptly with a soft, clean glass squeegee. We also recommend cleaning your glass with our ammonia free Glass World cleaner.
Glass Hardware
Glass hardware requires little maintenance other than drying the hardware with a clean, soft towel on a daily basis to maintain the hardware. Never use an abrasive cleaner on the hardware. Many of the components have a clear lacquer coat that can be irreparably damaged if subjected to harsh, abrasive chemicals. If mineral deposits build-up, mix a couple of drops of a mild liquid soap (such as Ivory or a similar product) into a cup of warm water. Using a soft, non-abrasive cloth, clean the hardware. Rinse thoroughly with clean, warm water and dry.
Any misalignment due to building settlement / movement will require professional service.
Frameless Glass Door Hardware Note
Hinges are greased at the factory for quiet and trouble-free operation. If there is any squeaking that occurs after installation, put a drop of “3 in 1 Oil” (also known as “household oil”) on the white nylon washer that the hinge body pivots on. This washer is the component that acts as a buffer, so the body of the hinge doesn’t pivot directly on the brass center block. This solution doesn’t require the disassembly of the hinge.
Do not use spray lubricant on these hinges. If the hinge has been disassembled, upon re-assembly, use white lithium grease to lubricate the interior mechanism.
After years of use, showers doors have a tendency to become misaligned causing contact with other surfaces. Regularly ensuring door hinge screws are tightened will assist with the door not becoming misaligned. DO NOT allow frameless glass doors to come into contact with adjacent surfaces, as breakage will occur. To avoid glass breakage, the door must be re-aligned. Loosen the screws on the door hinge cover plate, align the door, and then tighten the door hinge cover plate screws by hand with a screwdriver. Do not use a power tool or you risk damaging the screw heads.
Frameless Glass Shower Enclosure Silicone Sealing
Fresh caulking in your shower will last quite a while. House settling could cause it to pull away from the wall. Look for cracks, shrinking, and discoloration, as these are all signs it might to time to replace your caulking. Glass World recommends that you replace the silicone based caulking every 3-4 years with proper mildew and mold resistant bathroom caulking that is available at your local hardware store.
Wire Shelving
Epoxy coated wire shelving is virtually maintenance free. Occasionally wiping down the surfaces with a soft clean cloth as required.
Wall hung wire shelving manufactured by Glass World is built to withstand 20lbs per shelf. Glass World recommends not exceeding these weight specifications, as it will lead to shelving failure. In the event a need to carry more than the recommended weight specifications, a customized manufactured shelving unit may be available. Contact Glass World for details.
Wood Shelving
Melamine with laminate surface shelving is virtually maintenance free. Occasionally wiping down the surfaces with a soft clean cloth as required.
- You can remove difficult stains on melamine shelves using a mild household detergent or a paste of baking soda and water (note: A few light strokes should remove most stains. Excessive force or scrubbing may damage the surface.)
- Abrasives such as scouring pads or gritty cleansers may permanently dull and/or scratch the surfaces and result in future staining or deterioration.
Do not allow wet/damp towels / articles to rest on surfaces for extended periods. Do not remove protective vinyl end caps on wire shelving components as this may expose raw metal wire ends.

Bathroom Accessories
Advanced technology is used to create a finish highly resistant to the effects of normal wear and tear. Over time, frequency of use may cause some finishes to gracefully age in appearance. Additionally, with exposure to elements such as cleaning chemicals and humidity your product may show some signs of wear or tarnishing. These finish changes are not considered manufacturing defects and are not covered by warranty. Rather, they are indicative of normal wear and tear. As always, following these manufacturer’s care instructions to safeguard the longevity of your washroom Accessories products.
- Regularly clean the product with mild soap and warm water. For best results, dry immediately with a soft, clean cloth.
- DO NOT use abrasive sponges or scouring agents for cleaning. We also advise against the use of solvents or acidic cleaners, lime scale removers, household vinegar and cleaning agents containing acetic acid.
